HumanSpec FAQ

Understanding scores and percentiles

How to interpret a result, compare sessions, and avoid over-reading a single number.

What should I compare: my best score or my average?

For a useful baseline, compare a small range or median across valid attempts. A personal best is motivating, but it is more sensitive to luck and conditions.

Why can two websites give different scores?

Tests may use different instructions, timing methods, stimuli, scoring rules, and hardware assumptions. Scores are most useful within the same test and setup.

Are HumanSpec scores scientific norms?

HumanSpec scores are orientation points for browser tasks, not clinical norms or population-level conclusions. Device and session conditions matter.

How should I track progress?

Keep the same device and test version, record the date and conditions, and review trends over several sessions rather than reacting to one result.

Can practice improve a score?

Practice can improve familiarity, strategy, and consistency. That does not mean a score represents a permanent change in a broad ability.
